Plant only filtration (why not popular in the hobby???)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When I google Yellow Pothos leaves the results say "over watering"... hahaha!!!!
but why do submersible plants have green leaves if yellow leaves of pothos is the result of over watering???? LOL!
i did allow a some pothos with submerge parts steadily under water... and it got green leaves... but the one in the canister with running water did have a yellowish leaves... i believes there is something missing in the running water than those steadily just submerge. both have the same amount of sunlight every day...

3 questions.

A. whats your nitrate reading
B. city or well water
C. whats the gph your shooting at the roots. I think I have read before that there is such thing as to much current. I have about 250gph going through my "long box".

I don't even do filteration with my 10g tank not even airstone. Its heavily planted and loaded with CPD's/Rocket killies.

Should be thinning the tank and spiltting the juvies into another tank soon though :)

10ppm this week, not to shabby. didnt do a water change. should top it off though....

so 2 weeks no water change, moderateish feeding ;) 2nd week results are about 25ppm. Not to shabby. 70%w/c here we go

5" fancy goldfish
4" moor

Here is my regular outdoor fern I plucked from the ground. I guess what you would say the 2 dirt "leaves" died. But right after those died this puppy shot up, there is another right behind it, so withing 4 days ill have 2 of those stems. I wonder if this puppy will stay alive!

Why not? Worth a try. You figure lots of rain and ur grass gets huge in a week so here goes nothing.

Always wanted to try it out anyway
