Who is dumping Directv because of Fox/FX/NatGeo?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
glad I didn't get rid of Comcast for DirecTV now. I wish they would have the channel that shows Bellator on HD, though instead of stupid non-HD MTV2.

To be fair, Directv says that you will pay 40% more for those channels, which doesn't correlate to a 40% increase on your total bill since they make up only a portion of your bill as you said. Nowhere on the site does it say your ENTIRE bill will increase by 40%.

Is it misleading? Maybe since they don't tell you the actual impact to your bill (maybe 5%?) but the big numbers look scarier, and they're trying to fight back against Fox.

I wouldn't trust Fox/Newscorp at all and I'm kinda glad they're fighting it. Anybody who says The Simpsons isn't profitable is either completely lying or totally incompetent.

Yeah, I think misleading is the issue I have. I'm glad DTV is taking a stand against Fox, but threatening to stop broadcasting the channels is not the way to fix thing. I'm sure it's just a bluff while they try and negotiate things. Whatever the outcome, I won't put up with losing those channels. If it means my bill increases, so be it. At that point I can reevaluate my service plan and compare it with other providers. But the choice should be left to the customer.

Oh and actually, the graphic they had about the price increase is gone. It said something like "how would you like to see a 40% increase in your bill". That's what I was talking about.

yea, watching bellator sucks

do you have fuelTV? that's where ufc is going i believe

Or you could just not own a TV and not give a crap with what's going on. I've been going on two years with no TV and haven't missed it yet.

^ Ummm yeah noooooooo. Not a fan of the backwoods Amish luddite lifestyle.

:ROFL:I was thinking the same thing.
I was considering switching to Direct TV last year becasue of the NFL package, but after watching a game at my mom house one rainy day, it seemed evertime something exciting would happen the station would freeze. Then when it got to the 4th qtr, game completely froze. When we called the company to ask, what they could do. the operator reply was have we went to the roof and checked the connection, really, really. I'll stick with my sometimes over priced but dependable Comcast cable..
Good look with your decision...

I notice alot of TV companies go through this almost every year with threats of dropping TV channels. To my knowledge they all workout in the end.

Isn't FX, TBS and TNT all owned by Ted Turner? Why arn't this other channels affected?

It's really not too bad...not as bad as watching NFL in SD, but I for sure don't like it. IDK about fuel...have to check. Comast won't carry EPIX and epix2 is where Bellator is shown in HD. I read that Bellator is actually going to be on Spike, but not until 2013 (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/mma/...s-bellator-plans-2013-start-on-spike/558003/1), so that would mean hello, HD on Comcast. Comcast is a rip, but I've only lost cable for any amount of time once while when we had Dish it was out all the time.

FX is an abbreviation of FOX...

TNT is Turner Network Television and TBS is Turner Broadcasting System... So, no.
