Found em at PetSmart huh? Our PetSmart out here don't carry Green Terrors, mostly Jacks and Oscars with the occasional Red Devil muts lol. I go to this mom and pops fish shop out here for fish and keep the PetSmart for the food cause it's fresher. Will post some pics if and when I do get some GT's. By the way how do you vacuum that tank, if at all?
I don't think they usually sell them at PetSmart, I usually buy from the LFSs but I was at PSmart then and saw this guy, I mean I've seen a good number of juvies and none of them colored that much. So I just got it, doesn't matter if it was from "PetSmart."

I vacuum it like gravel, it's pool filter sand with some gravel mixed into it. The sand is actually heavy enough for it to go back down like gravel as long as you control it well. Maybe my vacuum is just not that strong either hahaha. I just mentioned that it was not smooth because of the driftwoods hooked on the top which gets in the way :/

PetSmart has some good quality fish, your GT proves it. I've just never seen GT's there is all I meant by my post. If I did, I'd probably get some from there. And I've always wanted to do the sand gravel but figured it was too hard to vacuum it. Looks very nice and natural in your tank.

Don't let it intimidate you. I find it just as easy, if not, even easier since the sand is so packed the poop doesn't find its way into the substrate that easily. Make sure to get pool filter sand, it's easy to rinse before dumping it into the tank and heavy enough to ease the vacuuming. The gravel helps hide the poop, more like camouflage it though hahaha, but I really don't have much in there, probably about 20% of gravel only. Of course whether or not it will be easier will depend on the fish, the setup, and yourself. Best of luck!

I'm curious to what you will do, please post a link of your thread here or some pics when you do come up with some changes :)

Here are some pictures from this month. The Gold Saums are barely growing but I can tell that they have been maturing well.

Just a couple of weeks ago the pair had some fry and the fry formed a tower at one point :)

It will take the gold saums a while to reach their max size the male should grow fast up to about 8" after that the growth slows down tremendously.... Patience is the key when growing out gold saums.... an adult 10-12" male is easily one of the nicest cichlids
Do you think my gold saum would grow to 12' in a 200litre 55g tank by itself?
