Hi Kaya,

just a thought I had, watching your video... don't your fishes look extremely clear ? Especially Davy Jones ! I guess it's because of the "light blue pool" color of your pond... I understand it's much easier to keep it clear and clean that way... But what would you think of putting a bit of golden sand into your pond, to obtain a more "naturaly Amazonian" look ??? and maybe a few branches or big roots to color the water into something more "dark gold"...

Again, it's just an opinion, my way of thinking, and definitely not a must or a wish... Can you tell me the advantages to keep them in this way in very "swimming pool like" waters ? Thank you in advance for your answer...
Hey Christophe.. hope you are well mate.. ya.. its like a WTT in my pond.. its because of the white tiles and me keeping it bare bottom the fish get that clear look..the light blue is cos of the polycarb sheet i've used for a roof.. the main reason is its much easier for me to clean.. yes i've thought of plants.. driftwood and the lot.. but my cat(s) would suffer with lack of space if i overdo it.. the last time i dropped a lily plant my RTC shredded it overnight..and the sand i've avoided cos it might clog my bottom drain and hinder my filtration.. i could have done a slightly darker shade rather than white when i think of it now.. like natural sand.. brownish.. but too late i guess now.. :) prob for the future i know i gotta avoid this and do it more realistic..

thanks for sharing your reasons... I understand better... and without any sand or plants, a pair or two of driftwoods (of decent size, I mean)... I don't know if you can find some in nature in your area and if it's safe ? We're not talking of too much, but on your volume and surface, you could easily drop 2-3 of tree stumps (or piece of it)... Or maybe, simply some rocks like volcanic rock (pouzzolane) or even simple river rocks (again, don't know if you can find that in your area and if it's "biologically" safe)

what do you think ?

hey kaya, pond looks great!

if you were looking to add to the bottom you could do large bulk lava rock around your drain. then you could add some other bulk rocks around the other areas in piles so you make misc structure. you could also make a plant raft. just take a dark foam and cut it into an island. then you could take some furns or snap dragons or any other terrestrial plants you like and plant them in cuts you make in the foam. the roots will hang in the water giving floating cover and an amazing filter boost. while at the same time giving you added beauty to the pond with out taking any space from the fish. some ideas that i will be doing in my pond.

Drift wood and a few rocks sound nice.. i actually have some rocks.. need to clean it up and was thinking about tying up some hornwort or hydrilla and dropping it in there at one of the corners where there is minimal flow.. i actually want the driftwood to be like 4 to 5 ft in length and one piece so been looking for it.. will post a pic when i do.. thanks mate..

Scott thanks mate.. the floating raft idea is nice.. will give that a shot.. the only prob with lava rock is once it gets a little green it gets tougher to clean.. :)

you know bro, a rock with some green patches would look cool, as I've said before a large driftwood would be nice more so if partially emerged or substantially submerged whichever way u prefer to call it... ;)

lava rocks are a mixed deal. i love them and hate them all at the same time. on the raft they sell a premade raft somewere. i will try to find it and get you a link. i was originally looking at it for hunting, but then thought of my pond.

edit: here is that linkhttp://www.floatingislandse.com/home.html not sure if they ship to you or how much they are, but it could be worth investigating.
