The gar has had a tough time when first introduced to the big tank as the Wallago tried to eat it twice and hence the damage to fins and body which have now healed. The gar is 11 years old.

The Bala sharks do the spawning motion but I have not seen eggs released. Have you bred them?
Sorry, nope.

Also please post the pictures of those large barbs your friend caught and see if anyone here has seen them before....thanks
Oky thanx here's the pics of those unknown fish, and the link http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?460279-ID-Ghana-Brycinus-spp&highlight=
,although I do tend to agree with Oddball that these look like Brycinus macrolepidotus.

He also caught a tigerfish (and a huge one at that), that he thinks might be a Hydrocynus Brevis.

And since you keep a Mbu puffer I thought you might like these pics of a Fahaka puffer (Tetraodon lineatus) that he caught on lure, and another on worm.
Note the fish lice (Argulus spp.) on the belly of the last pufffer.

Those are really nice size barbs.

The tiger fish is great also.

The puffer's are always fun to see. I actually also have a Fahaka puffer (Tetraodon lineatus) beside my mbu. My Fahaka is in the 11" range so close to the ones in the pictures.

Have you ever considered keeping Bagarius Yarrelli or the Goonch catfish? A monster fish for a monster tank.

I have had one in the tank.

I bought it from Oliver Lucanus & Sean Lew in November 1997 when they were Biotope Imposts and located in or near Lasalle Quebec. It was 15 cm (6") long and cost $65.00.

At the time Oliver called it the Grandfather catfish.

In August 1999 I placed it in the big tank at 50cm (20"). It was always bullied by the Wallago and stayed in an area difficult to see it. It hid among the larger pieces of bogwood and caves. It died in the winter of 2009. The last date I saw it alive was Jan 29, 2009. It's body was consumed by the other fish and I never found it. It's estimated length (by MFK buddies) was 94cm.
