So wait, The Tanked guys almost rejected the ugly shark decor because it was made of fiber glass that supposedly could leach into the water and kill the fish... Yet the Fish Tank Kings guys made an elaborate rock-wall completely made out of fiber glass for an Octopus that was being poisoned from epoxy adhesive leaching into the water in it's old tank. Yet the latter made a big deal about putting a die-cast Formula One in another tank for fear of leaching toxins into the tank, but didn't mention one thing about the potential leaching of the fiber-glass inserts?

I've seen a few of their "TANKS" for sale on Craigslist as I live in Vegas a few times coral inserts and large tanks for sale also the lift that a guy used for a shark tank was for sale about the same time the episode aired

Yeah it is very scripted. I have seen some tanks I like that they have built but I'm not sure whether to take a show like that at face value so when I watch it, it's for fun, doesn't help me learn in the least bit lol

So if we as a collective don't like the misinformation aired on the show, I don't see why we don't do something about it besides complain on our hidden and exclusive forum. Example: Start posting videos on Youtube in response to the episodes, discussing proper husbandry for those particular fish. And to someone who posted way back about bad husbandry (on Tv) not being a big deal: People imitate what they see on TV. So if they see a redtail cat in a 10 gallon on tv, they'll follow that example. Animal planet needs to be more responsible for their shows and informing the public against animal abuse, fish included! I've only seen the Feng Shui episode, but I wasn't impressed. And the worst part is that people who aren't into the hobby associate this show with people like us. My dad was geeked about having me watch the show, because it's fishkeeping. Someday I plan on doing a build, but I don't want it to be like that.

I agree. I vote for you to start the YouTube channel and every weeks episode go over what they did wrong and how to do it right =)

I'm not about jump on that train because I don't have the resources. Maybe the forum would help you plan every weeks video by picking it apart and then going over what they noticed that way you have the content for each week.

I mean every week woud really come down to this:

Don't put so many fish in a tank
Don't mix incompatible fish
Fish need more than just vertical space in a tank (phone booth and fridge tanks)
Here's how to properly cycle a tank
Here's how to pretty quarantine fish.

Unless we want to hit specifics of what they did every week it's pretty much the same mistakes over and over. Can't do a video every week without looking like you're totally attacking the show and if we would want to separate it from the show it would just be another how-to video like the millions of others on there.

Nobody wants to "attack the show", but isn't that what most of the comments are doing? Let's think about that for a moment.... Also, if I had cable and watched the show, I would gladly run a commentary after every show. I'm not scared to do something about it.

I actually really liked the Petco tanks from this week, though I would done the Freshwater as the center and went with salt cylinder. The tree boa terrarium was pretty cool, though not being big on herps, I don't know if adding two snakes to the enclosure is a faux pas.

I HATED the kiss tank. Those blinking lights must annoy the **** out of the fish.
