Thanks bottles and Nick.

Here is a pictorial reference of sexual dimorphism in Channa sp. 'Meghalaya Leopard' which will be useful for Channa keepers worldwide:

The Female

The Male

Tabby,

just wondering, do you do the winter cycles for your 'lal cheng'? I'm down here in Singapore, sp its hot all year around, maybe 26 27c. Is it possible to breed them without the cool period?

Thanks, Ben

Thanks ravenrage.

Hi Ben,

I live in a city where the winter gets to about 22 degrees Celsius on an average which is still on the higher winter temperature side but my Lal Chengs breed. I stimulate some triggers such as replacing some old water, lowering the water level and doubling up the surface plants. You could cool off your tank's water by a couple of degrees or more by adding lots of terracotta tiles and some earthen pots in your tank.

Cheers,
Tabby
