I decided to bust out the Nikon tonight (or this morning, however you want to look at it lol) and actually get some quality pictures of Max. This is long overdue, especially with his recent injuries.
I find that using the camera is a good way to capture images in order to look at things that you normally have trouble seeing in person. Looking at these pictures, it seems apparent now that Max actually does seem to have new growth coming in on his upper lobe. I certainly hope that he does. With these pictures you can see quite plainly how extensive the damage that Marilyn did to him was. A month later and he still has wounds that aren't completely healed!
It breaks my heart.
On the other hand, he's showing really nice colors lately. He's also been feeding tremendously aggressively lately and seems to have hit a growth spurt. Since the Marilyn Incident, he's developed a little bit of yellow on his lower lobe as well. I'm really digging that!
I normally take shots that just show the fish itself with nothing else in the tank. Sometimes that can be a bit confusing and it can make the tank look really dark. These pics should help with that.
Its not easy keeping rare and very needy predatory fish ... lord knows I know ... hang in there Chicx, its the trials and tribulations of a monster fish keeper
