this makes me wonder because I figure my GG is about 24" long, about 3" thick and 8" tall. That would mean he should be in a 500 gallon tank..... I'm sure some folks on here will say "well yeah dummy," but I've had him for about ten years now and he was living in a 55 when I got him and his tank mate BP from a former boss who let the water go for a couple of months.... I've since moved him into the biggest aquarium I could afford, a 150 gallon with a canister. I plan to get him a bigger home even though he is the only fish I currently have in the tank (He has outlived or killed everything else of course), but I am not a wealthy person. I'm just a poor schmuck who tried to help this guy when his owner quit caring.... I love Popeye to death and want to give him the best chance I can to live as long as possible. I just don't know if I can afford a tank that large and the filtration/electrical bills that would go with it.... the 150 is plenty wide for him to move around in as it is... am I ok with him in this aquarium alone, or should I make the new tank a priority?

G'day, I am a first timer in here but find the comments and interaction refreshing.
i am in Brisbane, Australia and have an 8ft tank. Approx 1,000 litres.
about 18 months ago I purchased a barramundi from a pet store. He was about 2" (5cm) long.
my problem is that now he is 30" (70cm) long, and STILL GROWING, in fact he appears to be accelerating?
firstly, will he/she stop?
otherwise what do I do? Killing the fish won't be an option.
your comments will be appreciated.

Ok maybe someone can give me some guidance here. Just started my first salt tank with a 55gallon. It has got about 50lbs live sand, 20lb crushed coral, and about 25lbs of live rock stacked up with optimum hiding. I am currently running two t8 18" lights and they work fine for what it is and will be upgraded soon enough along with getting a skimmer. I have to large HOB filters as well with a bubbler and fluval WM that does 1350gph.

Were looking at these fish and most seem compatible with the table that I found on liveaquaria.

Fu Macnhu Lion
Coral Beauty Angel
Mccoskers flasher wrasse
Blu spotted puffer
Yellowhead Jawfish
Green Mandarin
Purple Firefish
Zebra Barred Dartfish
Sandhopper Blenny
Kauderns Cardinal.

I know all of these wont fit but I figure I could get 4 safely in there. Any Advice??

Thx a TON!! guys and who posted this article im soo happy i didn't buy a tank till now since the past 1.5 years with this it is much helpful.I cant believe there is soo mch endless knowledge to keeping fish ,its very very difficult i understand now to have the most happy and perfect fish theres a lot to learn before we decide things quickly without thinking and we'd be doing injustice.I dont want to go off topic as im new here bt im very Thankful again that people help others here without getting pay..one may think it would be possible only by books bt thx a LOT guys :) ..so now cutting out on plants, gravel, filter etc i have 140 gallons left im a noob in the art of keeping fish as a companion have had only 1 small 30 gallon before and it had only 4 shrimp, 2 snails,1 pleco and 2 eels ;p.. so i dont want to buy a fish that will grow monster;d even if i did want to i couldn't cus the Width of the tank is only 1.35 ft and my parents wouldn't allow me since they giving me 40%;p..So i just wanted to confirm with u guys. 4 cardinal tetras,4 rasboras , 2 sword tails 1in , 2 red tailed sharks 1in ,2 dollars 1in,2 silver sharks 1in and 2 platys please tell me if im OverCrowding and making my fish unhappy cus thats the last thing i want.. As it is we are taking their freedom bt at least we can strive to make them 90% happy if not 100% bt sadly im soo ashamed of my country the fishes i get to buy aren't even 1% happy their tanks are soo overcrowded id rather not tell u guys its pathetic and despicable if there is a hell then im sure those people would end up there ..ive seen ppl have make mistakes and i dont want to make any cus now im well informed. Also are all these fish Compatible with each other ? so what do u guys think its 6 ft length 1.4 width and 2.5-3 height undecided yet roughly 140/160 gallons left counting all the mandatory things..would be really nice if yall could tell me if i need to remove anything :)

The one inch per gallon rule is stupid.for example you can not keep.a 15 inch red devil or flowerhorn in a 15g.
