Anymore I collect my own, some of it similar looking to Manzanita, don't know what it is exactly but it's not Manzinita.
But, anyway, got a couple of big pieces of Malaysian once years ago and, wow, was it ever a pain trying get it to stop releasing heavy tannins and messing with my water chemistry before trying to put in a tank with fish, to the point I ended up chucking it. I'm guessing not that all of it is like that, but this stuff was evidently pretty raw and definitely nasty. Probably should have gotten a giant pot and boiled the heck out of it.
My only cases of ich in over 20 years was a couple summers ago due to a 10 day power outage at my place after the derecho, after doing daily water changes with lots of river water to keep my fish alive-- I'm in the sticks and on a well, no power equals no water. Salt and heat didn't do it, so went with Coppersafe and/or good old Aquari-sol (not enough of either one available locally to cover my tanks).
On a side note, almost all my fish got ich, haps, peacocks, SA cichlids, but my Kapampa fronts were immune to it, not a speck visible, even on their black bars. Also, not much on my plecos, few specks but not bad.
