I'm always amazed by your setups, really are amazing, and by all means show off, I'm sure I speak for the majority when saying we'd love to see more. I like your passion for them lol, I'm the same way. And I think you should give it a go for the atf if he's not small enough to be made a meal. And if you'd like to help with sticky, by all means, I've talked to him about it, I've got the format and everything I'll bump the thread if anyone wants to help, I've been trying to get time into it. But life, and another hobby got in the way for a little, and slowed me. And there are some species I read of that I can't find much or anything at all about. I've not gotten much done, but I will get it done if no one does eventually. Better than nothing lol.

That iguaza is gaining on the aimara! The lince cat and brycron look huge!

I still can't believe they get along. I've been trying to get a good vid of them and their wave making. The Dorado and Brycon swim at the top of the tank with this huge wave traveling with them.

Here's most of the residents..... Hard to get a fts cause the tank takes up half the room, can only get about 4' away from it. lol.
That's quite a view there Al! Good job!

eyeballing I think the brycon, lince, Irwinni, and Lucy are around 18-20".

I think most of the other stuff is 16-18" except the Australis is probably around a foot.

The 3 larger Atf are probably 14-15" smaller pair like 9-10".

The Iguazas grow rediculously fast cause their appetite is bigger then any fish I'm currently keeping. The smaller guys (cf Lacs) have almost caught the smaller Aimara I bought back when the Australis arrived. Both my Aimara have been really slow growers. Bet those cf lacs are pushing 10" already. Lil green eyed guys still only 3-5".

OH...IO
Thanks for the fts attempt, I have the exact same problem. Big tanks in little rooms.

So how annoyed do the rays get by the movement of the lince?

Where ever
Such a cool sight to see right there. I can only imagine the activity level of this tank. The picture almost captures it. The dorado and brycon seem to be shredding waves while the armatus sits at the bottom like a bulldog. The color contrast between the black rays and that falk is incredible! Very cool shot DB junkie DB junkie How about another?

Nice, and as for the atf, maybe hold off a little longer so they catch up in size completely, and now they don't have anything to worry about being so silvery lol

Thanks DB for this thread! Made me look at the Dorado in a different light... I owned one about 18 years ago and hated it because all he did was slash slash slash! Congrats on such an awesome mix of Apex predators!

pfffft..... You're Jay Leno and I'm your mechanic. lol

I have a tank I'm very proud of, but I could only hope to one day know what you do scientifically about these fish I keep. You've done mad research man, and without that half these people wouldn't know what they're looking at, and together maybe we can HOPE to make the other half understand. ;)
Yes sir! (we need the cheers emoticon back!!!) I'm very proud to have contributed to the knowledge base of this site. There's a lot of smart people here, I'm continually flattered to be counted among their number, and not entirely convinced that I'm deserving of it.

The reason I'm so proud of my big tank is cause the stocklist is something I would not believe unless I saw. Robert and Raymond and the Brycon race the Lince, the pair of Armatus will occasionally give chase as they hate the swimmers, meanwhile the 4 species of Wolves (Amapa Aimara, Lower Xingu Lacerdae, Australis, and Iguaza) just sit there thinking you guys are annoying. Feeding time comes and even the Armatus seem to respect the wolves. I enjoy these guys everyday, they make me feel like one of the luckiest keepers in the hobby. I'd love to share them more but don't want to be hated on for showing off.
NO ONE is going to hate you for showing off! The worst thing that'll happen will be keeping your fans happy!

The only thing I can't get out of my head is the fact that I'd like to try the ATF in there instead of the Armatus. The 2 remaining Tanzies are just a bit smaller then that big VATF I aquired, and one of the Tanzies beats the crap out of both of them and everything else I try to house with him. I bet Robert and Raymond would straighten him right out. IF not the big wolves sure would, Tanzie VS Aimara has never ended well for the tiger. I'd love to know your thoughts on this proposed switch up? I've moved the tigers several times with no issue, ok there, it's the Armatus I'm worried about moving.
Well. That's a thinker! I'm inclined to believe that one more silvery tooth fish in your group won't really mess up the group dynamic, but then again, as we both know, it is very easy to upset the balance in a properly (luckily?) coordinated tank. If it were me, I'd try it. But then again, I've lost several thousand dollars mixing fish that probably shouldn't have been mixed just to "see what works". It's part of the reason that I will NOT mix ATF anymore. My concern wouldn't be for tanzy if you do this, it would be for the horrendous wounds that an ATF's love nips can cause, nevermind the wounds they cause when they're angry.

You know Rob, there's still one huge hill to climb when you're ready. There's no rush as the longer we wait the more I'm going to aquire (up to 15+ fish covering I believe 8 species) but eventually there needs to be another sticky in this section. You know what I'm talking about...... THE big ugly....... The most screwed up genre out there.

Oh. Tomojsg pics are takin with a Canon T3. ;) Snails move too fast for my phone camera......
Yes sir! (cheers emoti again!) That's one hell of a hill of beans, and I'm not entirely sure I'm ready to climb it. I'm recently divorced and working myself half to death, so it won't be soon. However, I AM quitting my job in January and going back to college. I foresee free time in my future. I might be able to work up the gumption to tackle this kind of project, especially if I have someone of your caliber of knowledge to help me....
