Hello,

I am inquiring to know if anyone can provide me a favour in form information.
I am interesting to provide my Raphael talking catfish, named Raphael, with
a way to continue his legacy in this world and would like some information
in how to aid him/her in doing so.

I am acquiring a 36x12x12 Tank in the future, and was hoping of acquiring
some others of the same species for Raphael to progenate with.

And thus I have some inquiries:

1. What gender is Raphael? ( See images enclosed)
2. Is the tank suitable for them?
3. Is there anything I would need to do to aid them in progeny, does anyone
have prior experiences with this fishes husbandry?

Thank you.

There have been very few succeful breedings in captivity without hormones but the times that have been successful they were in a tank much larger than yours.

For sexing males are plumper when viewed from above.
I am also distributed by the amount of filth in your aquarium.

I am interested to know how you think this reply is helpful.

I asked for 3 things:
1. What gender is Raphael? ( See images enclosed)
2. Is the tank suitable for them?
3. Is there anything I would need to do to aid them in progeny, does anyone
have prior experiences with this fishes husbandry?

And you barely answered 1. As for your distribution of the "amount of filth" in my tank
id be interested to know what you mean by that, because I only see a bunch of algea
in a poor quality picture of a tank with no lightning at night.

Instead of posting that there are very few successful breedings, which is easy to find
out with single google search, I was interested in the particulars of them.

Did I miss something about how a frontal shot is now a top view shot?

The amount of ditrus in the gravel is disgusting.

Try using common sense to see if a fish that will live for 20 years and grow to be a 7-9" football will live in a 20l for life.

If you would've read the article from Google you will have awnsered your own questions and then some.

Spawning induced by hormones is not hard. Look up ovapium using the search bar and you will find everything that you need to know about the procedure from where to inject to egg tumblers.

By when did I state that a frontal view is now a top shot?
You are talking about an incredibly shy fish, I cant just
call it and tell it to sit. these are the best photos we can get of it.

The stuff in the gravel is algae or bacteria, and before
my fire eels dug part of it up, made a very nice soil effect.

I have to ask, how on earth did you come up with the idea of
my tank being 20litres? I would barely keep anything but fry
in a tank this small. The tank its in is 36x12x15"and is 100+ litres.
The tank I will be putting it in is 36x12x12".

If I have asked on a forum, does not imply that I was otherwise
unable to gain information that I required? I have not found a
single instance or article documenting the breeding of the fish.

Hormones go strongly against my ethnics.

If you want the fish sexed pull it out and post the necessary pictures.

Ditrus is the uneaten food that should have been removed from the tank not pushed under the gravel.
20l is 20 gallons.

I'd be saving up for a pond and researching throughout the archives of the forum and look on the Asian forum as well as be reading on planet catfish.

I'm questioning the amount of ethics you have if you want to put one of these in a 20 gallon.

For the absolute last time, that is algae, you know? the plant stuff? its green and photosynthesises?

20l = litres, L, litres, you know? they are the same? right?

If your not going to provide useful help, then I ask you refrain from posting on this thread.

20l= 20 long. In gallons.

The black rotting food isn't algae.

I've provided sources of information that you could use.

Photosynthesis isn't a plant it's a process.

I give up, I actually do.

I cannot deal with your total lack of reading and understanding skills.

OP you understand that there is very little information about them per your own Google research, yet you get upset when the only other poster can't help that much?

This isn't dogs and cats here. You might have to literally move the tank decorations around to get a good overhead look or even take him out momentarily to even attempt to sex the fish.

I think what TheKid is referring to is below your gravel it looks extremely dark. Like it is almost full of gunk lr detritus. If so that is not good. Do you gravel vac often?
