If you can, stick around for the Saturday Night Rare Fish Auction (and the presentation from Chris Biggs prior). Only registered attendees can attend.

The Saturday Night Rare Fish Auction is 100% donation from both BFD participants and some of the best vendors in the hobby - Dave's Rare Fish, Jeff Rapps / Tangled Up In Cichlids, Josh / Batfish Aquatics, Dan / Cichlids of the Americas, Anthony / SI Cichlids, Frank Cowherd, Mike's Cichlids, Segrest Farms and many more that I'm unfortunately forgetting.

We focus on limiting the auction to ~100-150 bags and 60-90 minutes of the coolest, most unusual fish. You never know what will be donated. We've had some awesome fish (rare plecos, pairs of wild new worlds, uber-rare African cichlids, nano fish, livebearers, fish from Rusty Wessel's personal collection, etc. over the years).

As CCA is a not-for-profit and all volunteer, all proceeds go to support bringing in speakers, paying for meeting space, etc. in support of the club. And I'd bet that we donate a bunch of the proceeds to support cichlid research and conservation again this year as well...

I plan to attend the Sunday morning market place, and may be some of the speaker events on Saturday. I was there last year and like the selection. The market place is different from auction as you don't have to wait all day to get your fish.

I've seen some of the donations that are coming our way for the Saturday Night Rare Fish Auction at BFD and they're awesome - rare plecos, new and old world cichlids (Malawi, Tang, Westies), wild livebearers, eartheaters, CARES species...just awesome stuff from a bunch of really generous vendors, fellow clubs and hobbyists who want to support CCA and cichlid conservation.

The Rare Fish Auction is a relatively small number of bags but focuses on the rare, unusual and CARES species. We're going to have an excellent, Canadian auctioneer who happens to have a tattoo of Wayne Leibel on him. Gonna be a blast!

On the way down (outside of Baltimore in the town of Glen Burnie) there is House of Tropicals (who's a sponsor and donating a bunch of stuff for our "Give a Kid a Tank" give-away)... in the area around the event it's honestly pretty slim pickings as far as LFS.

There will be a shocking number of fish available this weekend. Guy in the club is picking up 16 boxes of donations as we speak. A bunch more tomorrow. We've got I think 3 dozen or so tables of people selling at the Sunday Swap (I bet a few more signed up).
