Many of us are bichir snobs and turn our nose at the 'common' senegalus. Maybe its because the big box stores sell them as 'dinosaur eels', maybe we consider it a beginner's bichir or we hate how inbred they are and they just stay so little.

Just a discussion for fun. For senegalus owners what do you like about them? For non owners, why not? What would it take for you to own one?

Well since I started the topic I will begin. I currently do not own a sen but one of my all time favorites that I ever owned was an albino sen. Super active, outgoing and a great fish.... So why do I no longer have it? It stopped growing at 7". Years later the guy who now has it, has shown me pics and its still 7". I guess I like my polys a little bigger than that.

This was 'Snowflake'

I also owned a Common sen

So lets hear your thoughts on the sen and feel free to share pictures!

I'm probably the biggest Senegalus Bichir advocate on the forum :) Liked them the first time I saw them listed as dinosaur eels, and really got attached to Sen's once I heard they were primitive. So what they aren't colorful or don't get big as other poly's imo one of the most active poly specie I have ever owned. :D

i loved my 2 sens. best out of my 5 polys before they decided to jump

Most active little guy I got but I wish it would grow.
