That rot is pretty nasty. I hope your fish pulls through and makes a full recovery. That's a cool looking piranha!
On another note. That email was pretty harsh. I find that being firm and asking for a solution in a calm manner... but not insulting... usually brings about better outcomes in terms of customer satisfaction. Your email pretty much told them that even if they make things right you will never do business with them again. So therefore they cannot make things right. You publicly slammed them. There will be very little motivation for them to help you. Well, good luck with your fish and email.
Yeah I might just have to suck it up and take the loss. I think if I had never heard of this business I would have been more patient. I guess hearing how they habitually treat their customers like crap made me more angry than normal. I guess my email wasn't even centered on getting my money back I just truthfully told them how I feel about them and the way they conduct their business. If they don't care then it is what it is. I wasn't trying to insult just give my honest opinion.

It was mean. Now I feel bad. I'm not a mean person just frustrated and nervous

Oahu, Hi.

I fully understand your frustration. I haven't have very good experiences ordering livestock from online vendors. I usually ask my lfs if they can bring in something I want and pay the extra. I may save some money online, but I don't have to deal with the drama of shady vendors. Well worth it to me, plus I'm supporting my local LFS which is important in these times of corporate pet stores taking over. I really think that is a bad ass looking piranha and I hope he recovers! Wishing you the best of luck! Keep us updated.

$30 off your replacement shipment if needed, possibly $30 credit if the fish survives. Clearly they dun goofed, but there's still time to make it right in my eyes. Documenting everything is smart, and that smell from the water you mentioned will be ammonia almost 100 percent of the time. We have evidence that they messed up and that's obviously bad, but how they handle the rest is more important in my eyes. When you ship a fish within a week of importing it the chance of these problems are much higher. If they continue to mess up from here, however, then you get vocal. I hope that the public format forces them to make right on this, although I hope they would have without it.
Maybe an apology could help too. Haven't heard one yet from them.

Yeah this is the first time I've ever ordered a fish online. All other fish I've owned came from lfs or people in the area. It's nice to go into a place with people you trust and get a good look at the fish in person and decide if you want to purchase it. The shop I go to the most would never sell a fish in that condition and would hold it and treat it until healthy or send it back to where they got it from.

I've just been careless about this all because I was so excited to get the fish and have wanted this species for a very long time but didn't always have the means to get one. So I do need to take some of the blame.

Certainly not a good experience then. I get most of my fish shipped, and have had no problems like this. I think aquascape is in a rut and P tend to be a bit flimsy health wise. Add to it that the fish was freshly imported and you get a rough scenario. The red flags I've seen are the uncertainty with the black masks, on this forum alone I've heard of them coming in 4 different times and yours was the first batch I saw pics of. This means that they had 0 on hand and you got the fresh import. Fresh imports usually don't have too much trouble, I assume most of my fish come this way but for sensitive species like discus, rays, angels and P a quarentine period matters more. Give them a chance to make it right and don't be overly negative, most of the time they ship these fresh imports they are prepared for casualties.

I also don't mean to roast you for your attitude, just most people take the negative pr and try to burn you.

Did you knock on wood before you said casualties?
