Palmas polli is a good choice, they are one of the most active bichirs, they love to swims around. Palmas palmas and delhezi are good too, they like to swim, beuttikoferi is the shy one loves to hide.

Try to feed 50% hikari sinking carnivore and 50% tilapia, like mikee870 mikee870 mentioned you'll get alot of nutrients in the pellet and alot of protien in the tilapia. As they grow bigger you can do 70% tilapia and 30% hikari its really up to you. I do 70% tilapia and 30% hikari cause the pellets i use is a hikari massivore that cause $30 a bag. So i only use the pellet twice a week. Shrimp i only use once a month just for treat.

Pretty nice bichir you have. I would recommend feeding Hikari Carnivore. They will get all the good nutrients that they require. Shrimps and others are just treats.
thanks guys! so does that mean shrimp contain little to no nutrients or proteins?

Shrimp contain thiamasine(sp?) and bichirs cannot process it to well so to much of it is bad but as treats its fine.

Like they said above I mix chopped Tilapia and Pollock fillets with massivore pellets and occasional chopped frozen shrimp. once they are grown you may find feeding every day not necessary. I fast mine one day a week and now I rarely have left over food in my tank. While they are small ya may wanna stick mostly with pellets just to promote growth.

Avoid terrestrial proteins beef and chicken livers things of that sort. They will tear it up but most say its bad for their systems.

Although the biggest sen I have ever had was my first and back then I was learning... he ate a lot of beef liver and was a monster. my fish and water do seem healthier without it.

me too! Thank you guys for all the information. Really appreciate it! I am excited to try live worms and tilapia at some point! Had no idea about the shrimp.
