New member reading up on pacu made a comment. Not too many pacu threads any more.....a good thing. Perhaps people are reading up on pacu and not buying them--a very good thing. I wonder how many of the original posters still have their pacu?
that's awesome that you did all the research about pacus before your purchase... I had a red tail shark in with my two pacus.. the little shark would get between them and act like they were his body quards.. they were together until the red tail shark got old and gray... it was so neat seeing such huge platter size pacus protecting their baby shark.....Thanks for the info but I already know ALL of this. I did plenty of research and planning before I bought my monster and I bought him because he is monster. I want him to get HUGE. We have already planned our future housing endeavors for this infamous tank buster. Seeing as you have TWO of these beasts would you care to tell me the best mates for this guy?

I am glad you have found nice ones, but check other posts on this site and you will find I am not the only one that has lost fish to the Pacu! The only aggressive pacu I have read about were fed live food. Being omnivores, they can be "trained" to attack anything in their tank. Why people would want their pacu to behave like piranha is beyond me. Ours would never attack another fish in their tank. When we had oscars with them, the only threat to the oscars was when the pacu spooked. In their frightened panic swims to escape some imaginary threat, the pacu could have hit anything in their way.
