240 Gallon Build thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very impressed with the amount of media these aquatop trays can hold.. Each tray holds a little more than an fx6 tray.. Got 6 trays on the aquatops to fill and half a tray on the fx6. Might buy matrix in bulk, but now thinking about it 1 gallon of it may not be enough. Do you guys suggest keeping it in mesh bags?

Pond Matrix are larger pieces so may not need a media bag though be aware there may still be small pieces that may make it through the media basket tray holes.

Regular Matrix will require media bags.

Ok here is a stupid question.. Where the hell do I find new bulkheads? I've gone to like 6 "plumbing" shops and none of them have this in stock. Looking for 1 1/4"

Online ?

I use them pretty regularly for stuff shipped to Vancouver; I've bought quite a bit from them
I'm gonna check out J and L aquatics tomorrow, someone said they should have them in stock. If not I'm just ordering them in.

Update on filter media- for now I will just use bio rings, lava rock, and maybe some seachem denitrate

Would this also work as bio media? Picked it up for the garden plants, but not thinking of it don't people use this for hydroponics?

Toxic or not?
