Salminus Franciscanus (Golden Dorado)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Getting thicker and lots of teeth.
They are as you say quite thick, how big are they now Ken??

From the looks, they are keeping their peace in the tank.

They are about 7" maybe a little bigger.
Going to unplug the heater today to ensure peace. Water is quite warm.

My previous 2 dorados were super mean. The last 10" guy bit my 10" jardini's throat off and left him for dead. He dominated the 14" armatus and 12" orinos too. After I got rid of him the tank was more peaceful. Still gotta get one again in the future lol.

You're master at fish keeping, Ken! Thanks for sharing

You've got a real interesting looking group there Ken, some have huge overhung beaks and one has no beak at all almost like a Brassie in a group of Frankies..... lol.

Sounds like teeth may be an easier way to differentiate the species.... Frankies having a few (2) noticeably larger teeth vs brassies having very uniform teeth.

I picked up a small group of what are supposed to be Brassies from Ray not long ago. My group is currently in a 125 with a few Geos and some Ornate Pims. Actually going to add some Masheer as my group seems to enjoy descaling eachother from time to time. Hoping some quick swimming shiney fish will calm them down a bit.

Hi DB, I was going to take a break but JL recommended these guys. He said they are very easy to keep. I told Wes to send me only the friendly ones because I have no tolerance for violence. So he did. People on MFK are so nice. Pretty sure they are all Frankies. The beak seems to be less noticeable as they thicken up.
