You'll have bio filtration just not refugium. I have room for refugium but not using it.I like the filter sock option, but also want some bio filter and Refugium for plants. I'll make another sketch today

What's the best way to set up a Refugium, the way to have water flow in, I'll make another sketch and see if it will workYou'll have bio filtration just not refugium. I have room for refugium but not using it.
Yup, you will still have bio filtration with the first option, right? It just want be a refugium. I have a chamber that I thought to use as a refugium too, just never did. I use it now just for heaters/UV/etc. Was thinking about throwing a couple glow fish for my kids, but they may get swept away LOL...I like the filter sock option, but also want some bio filter and Refugium for plants. The marine and FW refugiums I've seen typically have flow at the refuguim chamber surface/top. I've not seen many where the walls have openings/holes for top to bottom flow - but it could exists. Some people add flow heads, wave makers to create additional flow and circulation. What's the best way to set up a Refugium, the way to have water flow in, I'll make another sketch and see if it will work
I hope to have this completed by this week. Drilling holes in the tank, I guess I'll just pick up a 40 breeder, and get the baffles going. The marine and FW refugiums I've seen typically have flow at the refuguim chamber surface/top. IMO, if you have continuous flow THOUGH your sump, I don't think it's necessary to go beyond that. I think as long as you have water agitation from flow going up/under/through chambers that is sufficient. I know folks on here do add devices for additional flow.
I think most that use glass tanks use glass as bonding with glass to glass is easier. Although it can be done given what I've seen. I cannot speak from personal experience with acrylic baffles other than my weir is acrylic.I hope to have this completed by this week. Would acrylic baffles be good enough? Or do I need to use glass ones
I've posted a wtb for a sump on a local fish site. If nothing bites then I'll have to build my own. I believe he already posted on one of my sump threads. Fish Tank Travis , has a good example done with glass. He could give you tips.
Thank you, it's gonna be perfect for this setup, I like the trickle trays and giant bio wheelsNice sump.
