Another update. Furan2 med treatment is done and I will probably do one final treatment of Kanaplex and metroplex tonight. By the pics you will see that he has healed. What looked like open sores on his head and snout before looks like closed wounds now in my opinion. I'm guessing the deep scarring will never go away. Back fin has finally healed a tear that didn't want to go away and the one spot on his lip looks to have healed. Seems like only salt helps that and it comes and goes.

I have been daily dosing seachem stability to keep my BB alive which seems to have worked. My ammonia alert monitor has not gone off.

Next steps will be to do a water change in a day and then carbon in 2 days to remove remaining meds and the yellow tint in the water.

Next week I will begin the task of disinfecting the 180g. Most likely will dump 20g of bleach in the tank and let it run for several days. We are selling our home do inspection is on Monday. Didn't want that bleach smell when that is happening.

I hope this journey is nearly over :/

Was just looking at some of the first pics earlier in the thread and it amazes me how large and how quickly the wound got. Literally looks like he has an entire patch of dead skin. I just pray that whatever was the cause is now resolved.

I've slowed on feeding from daily to once every 4-5 days. He keeps begging for food though.

Well all seems to be good. He's scarred but looks like the treatment did the trick. He's been in the 40g for nearly a month now and I think I want to get him back into the 180g. I have 6 weeks before moving and I fee it's too long to leave him in the 40g. I ran the 180g with bleach in it for a week to disinfect and tossed a bunch of stuff. I will do some additional cleaning but think I'll transfer him in the next week.

I just pray his did the trick and it doesn't come back.

Yes we don't need more members losing their beloved monsterfish. Keep in there!
Yeah, seems like a lot of folks have just had bad luck recently. If I lose this guy I will probably have to take a break from the hobby. Have a baby due on 8/15 and moving to a new house on 8/25. With all the new expenses I won't have the finances to drop $500 on a fish or even $200-300 on medical treatment like this guy has already cost me.

Moved him to the 180g. The tank has a black back and bottom so you can really see the scarring. I'm worried this isn't the end of it. Is there any thing I can do to help it heal? I through some salt but was thinking of something like melafix.
Now that he's in the bigger tank I can feed him more and probably provide better water quality.

image.jpeg Bad pics because of lighting but you can see how bad the scarring is.
