Hello; This sort of thing has gone on for a time. This example may be on the other side of such issues. Back a few decades ago my home state Kentucky was at or near the top of teenage pregnancy numbers. With southeast KY at the top in Ky.
The state mandated that in each school some instruction be given about the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. Having the only biology degree in my school I figured the task would fall to me. That was not the case.
The assistant principal decided to take over the task. He was a coach and phys-ed teacher without any specific health or biology training at all. He wanted to make sure only abstinence was taught on the subject. No mention of any form of birth control or any health related instruction was given.
The irony turned out to be that both his own teenage daughters wound up pregnant before they were out of high school with one having a baby while in the 8th grade.
