Hey guys I just bought what I think is a Malawi eye biter. It was sold under dimidiochromis compressiceps but it looks nothing like how I've seen them or kept them. Could this be a different species or am I mistaken? He is also missing an eye. Kinda ironic haha.

Though the coloring is way off it does look kind of like a Dimidiochromis but a strigata, not a compressiceps.

I

I didn't think it was. Are these guys any different from the compressiceps?
Not too much, behaviorwise if I recall correctly. They have a similar look but strigata has more of bulky profile......if my ID is correct.

O.b. compressicep. Their shape varies, i guess it comes from whatever they get the o.b. gene from.

I thought the O.B.s would be a lot more pricey? And is there any way to tell where your fishes origins lay?

Also, since he is missing an eye (looks like he was born with it) will it affect the fish in any way?
