Looking to set up a grow out tank for some baby Severums. Would it be smart/worth the bioload adding a couple giant danios?
This is my experience also.severum siblings growing up together are brutal to one another, even in a group of 8, one or 2 will have nicks.
they will be in a 29 high until about 5 inches (approx a year)This is my experience also.
Op what size tank are they in?
It should not take severums a year to reach 5", more like 6 or 7 months on average. They grow about .5" to 1" a month until about 6". Three 5" severums will be a lot in a 29. What size are they now?they will be in a 29 high until about 5 inches (approx a year)
tank is cycling now. Non existant. Would I been in for a somewhat of a manageable tank of aggression with the 3 of them for about a year? Multiple of one cichlid can be rough but out of my experiences Severums seem to be switzlerland and stay somewhat neutral vs a terror/demsey/convict/acaraIt should not take severums a year to reach 5", more like 6 or 7 months on average. I have also had pretty docile severums, but have heard from others here that they can be very aggressive, especially when kept in a group as youngsters. a 29 gallon won't give them enough room to hide or run away from each other. I would say that even if you got docile ones, the 29 wouldn't be enough water to promote quick, healthy growth after they hit 4" or so, unless you are changing water every day or two. Basically, I don't think its a great idea, maybe for a few months, but definitely not for a whole year.tank is cycling now. Non existant. I would be okay to change every 2-3 days, however I'm just worried about each other going ham agressors on each other as we continue on the months. Need some good banter on why or why not this is doable or not.I have also had pretty docile severums, but have heard from others here that they can be very aggressive, especially when kept in a group as youngsters. a 29 gallon won't give them enough room to hide or run away from each other.
