A lot of fish you guys take for granted are extremely rare or illegal here in australia. I go on about it a lot but you don't know how lucky you are to be able to get fish at a dodgy chain pet store that mostnof us Aussies have never even seen in the flesh.
Oh well, I wonder if my LFS still has that $1500 2.5 inch Senegal birchir in stock?

Yes I have heard of the astronomical prices of many aquarium fish over there. It's outrageous but at least you have access to some native species that we can't get.

I dont think i have any rare fish species wise. Other then a couple f1 and wild caughts. But in the form of oddity fish, i do have a short bodied oscar which people always seem to try to buy off me. Go figure, after a search through my pics i have zero pics on my phone of him though :-/

Having lived in oz i've seen the prices there as well and yes they are scary...

I think Asian countries are great in that regard because almost nothing is illegal fish wise and cheap as chips for the most part...

That's dirt cheap! Although one person here does import these huge tissue culture pots for about $20, but still super expensive at shops...

Things like brownie ghost / shy blue buce etc are still expensive though, especially if they've already been changed over to have submersed leaves fully developed...

In which case a plant thats say 15x10 cm can set you back upwards of USD $120 - $200 depending on seller...

My rarest I guess would be my slobbering catfish. Brachyplatystoma platynemum I actually just sold it about a month ago.

"This fish is classified as ''Endangered'' and the capture of specimens smaller than 62 cm is illegal. This means that the small specimens imported for the aquarium trade are illegally acquired. " - https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=679

I'm not sure what the largest fish wholesaler in the US was doing with a group of them but I got it pretty cheap.
