So I've been keeping fish for 4 years in a 55 gallon aquarium but have decided to get a much larger 450 gallon aquarium. I have little experience keeping bigger carnivorous fish and wanted to know if this would be an okay stocking list for a 450 gallon tank.

1 Tiger Oscar
9 Silver Dollars
1 or 2 Jack Dempsey Chiclids
An army of Cherry Shrimp (And if I can get them to breed more than they are eaten)
30ish Rummynose Tetras
1 Male Betta
20 Harlequin Raspboras
20 Feeder white cloud Minnows
And a handful of Platy's

With all the smaller peaceful fish I'm planning on having a decent sized area of the tank sized off (Maybe 55 gallons) so none of the predators can get in but so the smaller fish can still swim out into the rest of the tank. Any suggestions or If this tank stocking list is even possible would be appreciated.

I’d double that list. Build lots of caves,a bunch of natural looking plants It will
Look killer. I wish I could separate myself from my monster fish and pack in a 100 or so small schooling fish into my big tank

All the bite sized fish would be able to get into the area with the tiger Oscar and Jacks? Expensive treats....

The rummynosr, rasboras, and white clouds are just gonna be feeder fish after a while. If you like silver dollars i would just opt for about two dozen of those instead.

Agreed 100%, good suggestion on more SD’s too. The larger the school, the more the fun they are IMO.

S Sharkfin484 if you want a lot of activity with a purpose and downright beautiful have a look into geophagus species. They would work fine with your cichlids and keep the sand turned over. They help with mechanical indirectly as well.

Why the single male betta lol? If you like bettas and aren't afraid of them getting eaten, I'd go with a sorority. The single male betta would just he a very slow target if you ask me, kind of like the dodo.
I can kind of get what you're going with wanting small fish and big fish. If I were you and went with the small fish still I'd get a piece of plexiglass (sorry I don't know exactly what's used to section off tanks) get a couple dozen or so small holes drilled in it that are just small enough for the small fish to get through. Then get the big fish on the larger side, plant the smaller side if you want and then get the smaller fish and put them in the smallergic side. Eventually the small fish would learn "hey everyone, if we go over there then we'll get eaten so we should probably stay over here.". Of course the occasional idiotic fish will go over there or shrimp but most will survive and reproduce (especially if you have it planted like a jungle).

Agreed on the geophagus as well! A pack of geos seems a necessity in any SA tank these days.

I would definitely have some larger pim cats in there too.

everything on your list except for Oscar and JD's and SD's will be eaten. Might take a little while but they will all go. I'd just stock with other larger fish that go well with the cichlids, or more cichlids. Plenty of room in a 450. I'd maybe add bocourti or pearsei, severums, green terror.
