the biggest reason for staying back has more to do with rockes flying of there wheels than what may come out of the trucks, their treads hold rocks that fly off at highway speed as well has rocks and gravel that get build up in the undercarriage.
I think if you are back far enough, you won’t be able to read the sign. So when you speed up to see what it says, the golf ball sized rock bounces off your windshield....Does this sign really clear the driver of any liability from debris flying out of the truck and damaging someone's vehicle?

Then someone pokes you in the eye through the hole and chants 16,16,16...
Oh shoot. Did they poke you in the eyeLOL!....btw I took the photo.
No but I sure couldn't read the smaller writing on the sign until I was about a car lenhth away from it lol.Oh shoot. Did they poke you in the eye
That's a crock, how do you stay 200ft behind them at a light without pissing the rest of the people off. It's excuse for them not to secure the load they are carrying.Yeah I've never seen anyone maintaining that amount of distance between their vehicle and such trucks.
Half the rocks seem to come from the wheels or back bumper, however a lot are careless about putting secured tarps over their loads. That's a crock, how do you stay 200ft behind them at a light without pissing the rest of the people off. It's excuse for them not to secure the load they are carrying.
