Aragonite sand. Pool filter sand and sands like it have too much p04.
Oh there are different coral foods such as phytofeast its phytoplankton, oyster eggs, small frozen fish, copopods, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp. Like I said depends on the coral size as to what it can or will try to eat. I never lost a healthy fish to a coral or nem.
Very interesting on the diets. Sounds delicious. Phosphate less a problem for freshwater aquariums. I think CaribSea makes Argonite. I'm Sorry, I didn't mean to get personal about asking if your coral took your fish. I had already put it out there and couldn't take it back. Have you had saltwater long? I had a friend who had a square low saltwater tank I think it was somewhat of a tidal tank. 4ft sq by 2ft high. Very interesting and cool.

That copepods eat detritus, that's a useful thing. I read a lot of argonite sand comes from Bahamas and there is a large supply.

Oh no I didnt take it personal. And I said healthy. I lost a leopard wrasse to one of my rhizos. The wrasse was not healthy and wouldnt eat any prepared foods, it ate copopods. That wasn't an issue as I had tons but it ate little. Was never really healthy from the get go, small, skinny, and weak. I saw it at the lfs it was a black and white one, I had two regular ones and a potters. I had to have it. I should have waited on that one. I haven't had a salt set up in about 5 years. It got, well to be honest kinda out of hand. It really became a second full time job. It really pretty much paid for itself but it was a lot of work and became a point of contention between me and the wife. But honestly anything I enjoy seems to.....
I propagated corals and sold them, I bred clown fish and some other damsels. I also purchased systems from people that were getting out cheep and took my time cleaning, getting healthy, fragging and selling or trading in their stuff for a profit. I was on local forums a couple hours a day making deals. It really was alot of work maybe I should have quit my "real" job instead. Lol. I really enjoyed it and I really miss it and all the people I left behind from that "world". If I could have doubled my efforts its possible I could have done pretty well.
Ive always had fish tanks of some sort, fresh is relaxing.

Potter?....Angelfish? I read that Rhyzo's can be " over eager" for fish companionship. I have mostly had fish tanks throughout my life since early teens. It is relaxing and a working stress reducer mostly. Satisfaction

I was wondering about the plants, I was picturing a tall broad leaf waving sea plant. I had a fresh water refugium. I renovated it to make room for an expectant wagtail---false alarm.
Nice you could make it almost a career. I did that with a hobby. Went from full time optics and part time trainer to starting my own gym and running that full time. Kept putting money back into it, and married to it. 7 days a week, 12 hour days sometimes. Labor of love. Like Aquatics.

Must have been a good sized refugium.

Weird hexagonal long with an overflow right in the middle pond type thing, 90g glass.

Wow, beautiful. Looks hieroglyphics all over it. I can see the allure of salt water tanks, besides the challenge the knock out color
