They're some nice backgrounds I ordered on ebay. As far as the sand goes I can tell you Amazon is most expensive. Are these for doing art in your teal tank, or for different aquariums. Have you checked eBay yet. I just started checking Amazon.com.

Same color family...you can mix blues purples and greens. provided they are similar in chroma value. Have no idea what I'll use all this leftover teal for. It will remain in my quarantine tanks however. Is that color like London fog?

Caribbean mist is in the same family as London fog? I didn't know that. Must be somewhat warmer though given it's latitude.Same color family...you can mix blues purples and greens. provided they are similar in chroma value. I confess I am a little confused. Are you going to use the 2 new colors you are searching for to be used sand art in the backgrounds, or darker back ground sand for the teal, or to mix with teal for sand art, mix in with the teal to make other color(s), or....?
Actually just got in the first page or so and saw some good deals. Some Sandtastik for $4.95 free shipping. Maybe a different day and different deals than when you were looking.
Finwin--How much purple and how much Navy blue are you looking for? 1 lb bags Navy blue Sandtastik free shipping. Comparatively to other places including shipping that is cheap. I saw 25 lb box for $41.95 free shipping. If I can find Green I am in business. I actually saw hot pink with a castle mold kit. I want that for Christmas except in Rainbow. No, no I mean in Blue--Macho Blue. Do they have color?... Back to the hunt...Yo!It seems as though the less you order the more shipping is...I will look at Ebay and see what they have, I'm thinking about purple or navy blue for the 40 gallon setups. Only problem i ran across with ebay before was lack of color variety / availability. Will compare shipping...
Nope, just gonna have different colors in the 40s and keep the Carribean mist leftovers on the shelf.Caribbean mist is in the same family as London fog? I didn't know that. Must be somewhat warmer though given it's latitude.

I saw the deeper greens also but went more "moss" color because my biggest Parrot is flourescent pink...that color is for her tank...she'd look too washed out with a deep color. The blue will complement the bright orange parrot in the other tank. The third one will remain in the display tank with my baby O for now.Your artistry mixed with mixing those cool colors should be a creative combination. I saw the Carribeean mist Baja blue & Hawaii blue. I sure liked those! I saw the Green Apple and Kiwi. I don't recall the Baltic brown. They should have Baltic Blue and Baltic black, those arrre on Rrrrusian flag as well.
I ordered classic green. This is the Evergreen state. I was thinking about ordering Emerald Green, used to live in Seattle, called the Emerald City, but I didn't want to detract any from the beauty of the fish. I may get that color and do a test mix. What I want for that tank is a blue and green Planet Earth as seen from space look.
I had gone between the Sandtastik Site and Amazon before you posted about prices and saw that it was the same price (where Sandtastik was the vender on Amazon) except you were right you would be cheaper doing it your way and ordering from the manufacturer in larger amounts because of the 10% discount when you sign up on their newsletter.
However in a small amount they charge double for the same amount of sand that their own vender charges. In the long run it would be cheaper to go for with the manufacturer. I had noticed the slight price difference in the more premium Sandtastik sands, wasn't that much. On Amazon, Sandtastik had included the "free shipping" in the price. They might get a bulk rate with their shipping. You would think the lesser the weight the cheaper the freight.
I am not being critical, that is the way the retail business works. With overhead costs, businesses wouldn't make any money by only packaging and shipping small items, unless they were dollar stores or jewelers--or other businesses I guess. At least we know there is a cheaper way to do go for smaller amounts of Sandtastik. For people who want to try a little and don't want do buy the variety pack, (almost did) and end with a bunch of colors they don't want. (They could mix colors, but not everyone is an artist as you).Or for someone like the young fellow on thread Affording Your Hobby who can't afford spending large amounts of money all at once.
I will check out my green and then probably order other Sandtastic colors for my other tanks. I may mix my media's up more. I have read recently that a mixed medium tank is the healthiest for fish and plants. Seems like it would be a hassle to clean. But I have 2 tanks where gravel and sand are mixed up and it isn't that much of a hassle. It looks good together too, or maybe I chose the right colors.
I also have as I mentioned, one tank that is half gravel, half sand separate that looks good in the same aquarium.
Thanks for turning me on to the product. So now I have a lot more sand color choices.
My wheels and gears are working on which colors I am getting next for my other tanks. I am thinking Blue Hawaii or Carribean Mist. I might order another one soon.
If I find any better prices I will let you know, so maybe the company will price match for you and maybe give you a discount on top of that.
If they would have charged less for the smaller amounts of sand I would have bought from them. I bought from one of their vendors so they are getting money anyway. I will be buying more probably.
