I have seen RTMs kept in a 75 but wouldn’t recommend it, they need a 120 long term wise.
I have seen them kept in pairs in a 75 as well. If I did get an RTM I would have a single male. Andy Woods male at 4.5 years was 12 inches so I don’t think I have any worry about upgrading.

I think if college is still like I remember it, went to umass, the Texas May be the best bet.they will be on the glass when they put some size on it- they stand out- night look better with a black light. And they are forgiving and pretty easy to keep, not that the others are difficult other than Cubans.
Raising a group, they go after each other from a small size. Grow relatively slowly and can be susceptible to bloat.
Duanes has definitely posted some in depth experiences he has had with Cubans.
I have 1 experience- 6 became one. The tank had so many hides it looked more like a wet dry filter than aquarium the biggest one hunted the rest down

Yes that does sound difficult. Manageable though. It could still work. Best vendor for an electric blue Texas though?

I had "Rio Hondo" carpintis from Dan at CoA, very beautiful fish. I believe I have had Rapps carpintis as well at some point, "Escondido", years ago

I don't think you can go wrong with CoA or jeff rapps.

I have no problem with ordering from either. Which one would you say you liked better? Do you have pictures?

Have one pic of the old carpintis, if memory serves correct it was an "Escondido" from jeff rapps. I used to work at a store called absolutely fish in NJ and they ordered all their cichlids from rapps back then, so I got most of my fish indirectly from him.

Not seeing any pics of the rio hondo, may have been on my old phone. Was a very nice bright blue color.

Wow you are lucky to have such awesome lfs. I think I saw a photo of your rio Hondo when I was looking at older threads. I probaly can afford the 100 dollar minimum if I buy 4x 3-4 inch rio Hondos from COTA but what is usually the shipping and handling or extra costs. I’m in the eastcoast US.

I’m guess being 6’3” has a benefit when it comes to tank maintenance ;-) I like the bigger ‘screen’ and my oscar seems less cramped as she uses the whole column.

My favorite shot of my oscar is in my avatar. Love that shot.... and it’s from where I had her housed in the 75 (to stay on topic).

Great looking RD
