How timely indeed. I’d drink some but it gives me a bad stomachache. I’ll sip down my mocha mint coffee instead:p

It’s still -26 this morning. Ugh, it feels never ending right now. I’m trying to stay positive, but my pond is covered in snow and I’m almost 100% positive it’s totally iced over. I’m afraid my koi and goldies will all be dead come spring:’(
I’m no longer selling my remaining koi fry because I fear they will be all I have left.

Boy I suuure could use a bad weather day from work. Your Koi will be ok as long as your pond doesn't freeze solid. How deep is it?

It shouldn’t freeze solid, but I’m worried about gas exchange and air. I have a heater and bubbler, but my heater is completely encased in ice last I saw and the bubbler I’m praying the lines haven’t froze shut. It’s too cold right now for me to do anything about it so I haven’t even looked.
The pond is just shy of 4 1/2 feet deep. Last week it had 2” of ice on top. I had to use a hot pan to melt a bigger hole in the ice.

My koi did fine last year even with a short freeze over, but they were a good deal smaller then. Now a few are over 20” and all are over 12”.
The stress and worry are really getting to me today.

Ugh, just spent an hour outside(45 degrees) trying to start the lawnmower. Did everything. Primed it, shot starter fluid in the carb, took the plug out and cleaned it...The wife and I gave up and I told her what kind to replace it with. As she was pushing it away, she tried it 1 more time...and it started. Went inside and the cold water was hot.

HOA gave us a notice to mow the yard. Does it look like it needs it(this is their picture)?

Really? I thought that picture was from after you mowed. That’s ridiculous that they gave you a notice to mow it. Do you have a vengeful neighbor?

Not that I'm aware of...HOA can be of bunch of pricks at times. Years ago they got upset when I parked the Chevette in the street even though people throughout the neighborhood would do it(I counted 13 just on my street alone). Then one time they sent a notice when it was in the driveway saying it was useless junk and to get rid of it. I sent them photos of the legal stickers. They of course tried to backpetal and blow it off...I was pissed at that time.

Shortly after they sent a letter saying while it's legal to park in the street they would prefer people not do it.

Wow, I’d be furious.
I’m glad when I lived in town we didn’t live in an area with a hoa. There were times our grass was 6” tall because the dumb mower wouldn’t work or my husband didn’t have time to mow.

Hello; Many years ago (late 1950's) a small pond froze solid. It had some goldfish frozen in the ice. The owner let me take a chunk of ice with a gold fish in it. I put it in a bucket of water and let it thaw out. The goldfish was alive. Not sure about Koi.

That is interesting. I’ve had fish partially frozen be ok, but never frozen solid.
