Update to applaude my mothers incredible nose.
I live next door to my parents in my grandparents old house, who live next door to my aunt and uncle who live up the street from my other aunt and uncle.
I have a dryer but no washer yet, and I walk next door to wash the filter socks for the polys for the first time. (Change twice a week per brs’s extremely helpful study)
They’ve been in the washer for a full cycle, sitting in there dry and my mother comes home.
I walk next door to take them out of the dryer about a half hour later and she’s like “do you smell something? I’ve cleaned the rugs and the cat litter box, something smells like fishy sh*t!”
Lol. That’s literally what I just had in your washer.
Incredible.

Haha i forget my socks in the washer all the time it smells like a dead body.

Stupid question but you arent using detergent right ? I wouldnt put them in the dryer though. It will definitely shorten their lifespan

Yeah no soap. No dryer. And that’s not a stupid question. Lord knows we’ve all made some bone headed mistakes at some point. Good looking out. :)

Haha cool. Allot of people have sticks up their butts now a days.

You can use a couple cap fulls of bleach. Just let it air dry for a couple of days. The chlorine gases off.

Update:
To the surprise of no one, growing a microsword carpet in a Bichir tank is an uphill battle at best. I have hooked up a 5lb co2 tank, ferts, fluval 3.0.
And while I’m seeing growth, most pieces have been knocked loose and replanted at least once. Ferns crypts cabomba and Lillie’s are doing great. But I guess I’m going to need to set up another tank if I want a carpet. I’ll keep trying until the last blade of microsword melts away though.

Flint town!
Why don't you plant water sprite or hornwort?
Mine broke water sprite into pieces in days. Luckily water sprite can grow as a floating plant. Bulb plants are pulled out too.....lol stuff attached to rock or drift wood work well, or if it actually sprouts new plants everyday like Val.

There’s a couple pieces of water sprite in there, still rooted. Also s.repens that is doing fine so far, actually doing quite well. The Cabomba is actually doing surprisingly well too. We’ll see how they do once they get bigger. The dels are currently around 5 inches. Crypt spiralis and bronze and green crypt wendetii, susswasertang and Java Moss. Anubias nana petite, java fern and java fern trident and Windelov, two dwarf Lilly’s and a tiger Lilly. All are doing fine except for the microsword. And honestly it’s not doing “BAD” but it’s the only thing that has been torn up. I’m hoping some pieces will get a good grip before they decide to tussle around them. (Saw one latch on to the others pectoral fin today...the one who got bitten didn’t move until he was let go, and then he turned around and bit the offender and they split up after a little fight...I love these fish but wish they ate flowers and cuddled all day)
Only plants that have been moved are the susswasertang when the one was bloated and tried to use it to anchor his fat ass down. (Ended up floating around the tank with susswasertang floaties) and the microsword that has gotten knocked up.
Also. The Odessa barb count is down from 5 to 3. Still 5 Congo tetra. But I honestly have no idea how they swallowed those barbs. Maybe that was the cause of the bloat. But the barbs are twice as big as the del’s heads at least. They’re definitely gone. That blows my mind. Mouths are WAY bigger than they seem.

I had jungle Val in a guppy tank. Some how I killed it.
Besides, lowboy is too short for Val unless I want a Val garden that I can walk on. I’d like to be able to feed them without parting the plants. The crypt spiralis, Lily’s and cabomba are going to make it difficult enough.
