My fiancé has a collection of beautiful rocks that are amethyst and quartz. Do people use these in aquariums? This would look beautiful with my white sand in my discs aquarium but I imagine it would also cause some major water and ph fluctuations! So... are these rocks safe or dangerous? I think I know the answer already.

Yes both quartz and amethyst are inert so considered aquarium safe, they won't alter your water parameters. My only little personal concern would be whether the amethyst was so sharp it could scratch or damage a fish, but I'm admittedly a worry wart about such things.
So you’re telling me this is safe to put in my aquarium with ten discus?

Well what is your tank made of lol, glass, so putting glass in your tank would be fine
What if there’s like a hard resin on the rock part? Isnt their like a vinegar test or something? I’m new to this rock lol.0

Flint town!
You can pick up muratic acid at home depot it will like said previously react more noticeably. The Crystal is inert but if there is rock attached you need to check it.
