Got this Convict a few days ago and I’m just starting to notice his fins have a red and blue hint to them and I know that’s not normal for Convicts so could he be a hybrid with something else?1384202

Convicts are so mixed that it is tough to determine if it is ever pure unless you got it from a trusted source. Yours looks like it has a hint of honduran red point. The JD black is common and looks to be female.

The most trusted source in my area I got the convict from but I guess not trusted enough, however i’m not complaining the added red and blue hue to his fins i like a lot. As for the Female JD does that mean when full grown she will never have the bright blue speckles or nearly as many speckles as a male would? I used to have a 6” male JD and it was the most stunning fish I’ve owned. Kinda sad to hear this one might be a female.

A dark beastie like yours to

To almost no color at all. Looks like yours is in breeding dress, any males in with her?

Nope no makes but the JD and Convict who is a male pick on eachother the most (Well really only the Convict chases the Jd the most) Is it possible jd is dressing for the convict or just dressing for intimidation

She had them just a bad angle
I bet but it’s night and day with the the male behind her how different they look lol. So what do you think could be the reason mine is darkening up so much. could it breed with the convict? I’d like to see that hybrid lol

Yes, she probably does fancy the Convict.
