O boy i hope the two don’t eventually breed i don’t need that aggression in my tank. while we are talking about sexing these fish any thoughts on the sex of these guys. I’m pretty sure the firemouth is a male not sure about the GT

The Convict is nothing more than a brightly colored (good-looking) male specimen. Males often show these types of pretty blues/reds on their fins, when they’re confident and comfortable in their tanks. I’ve had many males in the last that display these exact colors when healthy. Nice fish!

I am thinking there is a trace of sajica in the convict because of how dark the middle bar is and the red in the fins. Predominantly convict though.

Convicts are so mixed that it is tough to determine if it is ever pure unless you got it from a trusted source. Yours looks like it has a hint of honduran red point. The JD black is common and looks to be female.

Just what I was thinking...
