Just got a few new additions today. Two wild caught 6” Temensis Orino hybrid bass and one 5.5” Temensis Azul hybrid. The Temezul is in emergency quarantine right now as it apparently did not handle the journey well and I’m hoping it pulls through. The Orimensis are already flourishing but are definitely showing the general fussiness of wild bass.

I’m going to continue to update this thread to give insight into the growth and patterns of these hybrids since it’s very hard to find anything on them. I will try to be detailed in the behavior seen as well since, personally, I feel each species does have different personality traits.

I’m especially interested in the Orimensis because I feel like the two species will really benefit from each other genes: the orinos powerful background color and more manageable aquarium size along with the Temensis’ unrivaled Spangling, body shape, and belly color. Or maybe it’ll be the exact opposite and turn into a giant brown bass with 3 spots ?

The azul should be interesting as well but not as different from what I’m imagining. Still, very beautiful and cichla azul is my favorite tied with Intermedia.

Here’s some pictures of the Orimensis currently. Definitely wary of me, so sorry for the bad quality. So far they seem to avoid one another and take turns schooling with the other bass. I can already tell getting them on pellets is going to be real fun. Temezul pics will come when I feel he can handle the event.

Edit: Sorry Mods I think my phone messed up and posted this twice. The site crashed the first time I tried to post it and reopened in the write up portion of the thread creation.

Here’s a photo of Temezul. He’s swimming now but rests anytime I come by the tank. His color is back so I’m sure he’ll be fine. I feel like he’s having the hardest time adjusting to captivity of any bass I’ve owned. Not much different from the Orimensis, or even smaller Temensis for that matter. He has very faint bars trailing from his spots to his ridge and he has a more drab baseline color. Similar to Azuls. With a touch of olive blueish green on top.

Picture of the 6” WC Orimensis next to a 6.5” WC Rio Negro Orino for comparison. It also appears that both Orimensis got different genes from their parents than one another despite being from the same batch.

And here’s a pic of the big 9” boi Rasputin who’s finally starting to get house broken and trust me.

Okay let’s get something straight lmao these are not temzuls (tems are found in columbia... azuls in Brazil) or tem orino hybrids, guessing you bought these from predatory fins? He’s clueless on species identifying and a lot of stuff in general. These are all just orinos.
LOL!...could they possibly be hybrid creations from Asia?

damn, really? I did get them from predatory fins but I feel like these are different in some ways from regular orinos. Like the spangling showing on them looks very tem~ish. The "temazul" didnt make it unfortunately. From everything I read about predatory fins people gave them good reviews. But I will say they very much have the body shape of orinos. I dont totally doubt orinos and tems couldnt hybridize because they both come from the orinoco basin. But I guess we'll see. Either way it was pretty decently priced even for standard bass so no matter what its a win
