Thank you very much for the info. I had never even heard of Exoticfishshop before now and I greatly appreciate being introduced to a possible new source. Thanks.Exoticfishshop was selling rtcxlima hybrids a few months ago, I think they are all sold out though![]()
Me either. Though I'd been silent here I still bought fish ocasionally during my absence and definitely looked around but saw nothing.Haven’t seen those types in a while. Seen a few tsn x rtc. Also the hybridIamfish mentioned.
Poor mindset on my part, probably. I just missed my own hybrids and that TSNxNiger is very pretty. It is probably unlikely I'd have the room for them longterm. Even though I am hoping to have a pond. Still I just figured worse case scenario I'd drop them off on your doorstep Viktor, in a 45 gallon tub/bassinet with a heartbreaking letter asking you to take care of my fishy babies.Exotic Fish Shop also had TSN x achara not too long ago.
I haven't kept track of what offered in the trade for a while, so can't help.
Why do you want them?
I actually had one from a vendor here, the vendor wasTSNxNiger is very pretty
Yeah, I thoroughly have forgotten that you used to keep... TSNxachara, was it? That was like 10 yeas ago...Poor mindset on my part, probably. Thanks a lotI actually had one from a vendor here, the vendor wasTom Maguire however he hasn't been on in so long. Mine died at 8 inches.
Turns out he was last seen on april the 6th 2020.
It's a real shame as that "TSNxNiger" in the pic is really a great looking fish in my humble opinion. And yeah I used to have a TSN/Achara and a TSN/Redtail. The Achara hybrid grew fast but not ridiculously so but my TSN/Redtail; wow he was a growing machine. I had to rehome him pretty quick. Both where great because they where always out and about and I thought they where some nice looking fish.Yeah, I thoroughly have forgotten that you used to keep... TSNxachara, was it? Haha! We don't promote irresponsible practices ... unless it's a fish that we can and will use for exhibition and won't have to look for an adopter for it.
The supposed "TSNxniger" in the first pic here https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=2044 ... which you too posted above... I have never ever seen in any other pics. This pic IIRC is from Segrest, from a long, long time ago, also 10 years or longer. The other specimen photographed by Ben the Amiidae doesn't even come close in the charm factor.
My impression is they usually look like this https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=4475 ... a lot less striking.
I also don't believe they are viable, especially long term, just like RTCxparoon, Leiarius x RTC, Lima shovelnose x RTC, Pimelodus x TSN, and other man made freaks. The only two apparently viable freaks are TSNxRTC and TSN x Leiarius / achara.
necrocanis can and God willing will tell us lots more as this is his pet topic and we love when he teaches us. He is a walking breathing encyclopedia and our pride and reason to boast, I am not afraid to say.
As for me, you must know, I am a purist. To me these are all mankind blunders and abominations, for ethical reasons. But we do exhibit them so our visitors can make up their own opinion what's right or wrong and what's beautiful or ugly.
Thanks a lot
