Hey guys; I was hoping you guys might help me out. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone offer hybrid catfish or at least anyof the Vendors I usually use. Does anyone know of any Vendors selling hybrid cats? And I don't mean Syno hybrids but TSN hybrids like TSNxAchara and TSNxNiger.

Haven’t seen those types in a while. Seen a few tsn x rtc. Also the hybrid Iamfish Iamfish mentioned.

Exotic Fish Shop also had TSN x achara not too long ago.

I haven't kept track of what offered in the trade for a while, so can't help.

Why do you want them?

Exoticfishshop was selling rtcxlima hybrids a few months ago, I think they are all sold out though :(
Thank you very much for the info. I had never even heard of Exoticfishshop before now and I greatly appreciate being introduced to a possible new source. Thanks.

Me either. Though I'd been silent here I still bought fish ocasionally during my absence and definitely looked around but saw nothing.

Poor mindset on my part, probably. I just missed my own hybrids and that TSNxNiger is very pretty. It is probably unlikely I'd have the room for them longterm. Even though I am hoping to have a pond. Still I just figured worse case scenario I'd drop them off on your doorstep Viktor, in a 45 gallon tub/bassinet with a heartbreaking letter asking you to take care of my fishy babies.

I actually had one from a vendor here, the vendor was Tom Maguire Tom Maguire however he hasn't been on in so long. Mine died at 8 inches.
Turns out he was last seen on april the 6th 2020.

Yeah, I thoroughly have forgotten that you used to keep... TSNxachara, was it? That was like 10 yeas ago...

Haha! We don't promote irresponsible practices ... unless it's a fish that we can and will use for exhibition and won't have to look for an adopter for it.

The supposed "TSNxniger" in the first pic here https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=2044 ... which you too posted above... I have never ever seen in any other pics. This pic IIRC is from Segrest, from a long, long time ago, also 10 years or longer. The other specimen photographed by Ben the Amiidae doesn't even come close in the charm factor.

My impression is they usually look like this https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=4475 ... a lot less striking.

I also don't believe they are viable, especially long term, just like RTCxparoon, Leiarius x RTC, Lima shovelnose x RTC, Pimelodus x TSN, and other man made freaks. The only two apparently viable freaks are TSNxRTC and TSN x Leiarius / achara.

necrocanis necrocanis can and God willing will tell us lots more as this is his pet topic and we love when he teaches us. He is a walking breathing encyclopedia and our pride and reason to boast, I am not afraid to say.

As for me, you must know, I am a purist. To me these are all mankind blunders and abominations, for ethical reasons. But we do exhibit them so our visitors can make up their own opinion what's right or wrong and what's beautiful or ugly.

Thanks a lot fishhead0103666 fishhead0103666 unfortunately he hasn't posted any stock in awhile. Does he have a website or FB page he might be posting on?

It's a real shame as that "TSNxNiger" in the pic is really a great looking fish in my humble opinion. And yeah I used to have a TSN/Achara and a TSN/Redtail. The Achara hybrid grew fast but not ridiculously so but my TSN/Redtail; wow he was a growing machine. I had to rehome him pretty quick. Both where great because they where always out and about and I thought they where some nice looking fish.

I saw necrocanis around which surprised me because I hadn't seen him in awhile. It's nice knowing he's still around and the community can benefit from his knowledge.

I personally don't have an issue with hybrids per say, I guess. I think of dogs, cats, birds and all the animals humanity as a whole has molded for our own personal benefit and entertainment that we accept as a part of everyday life so hybrids to me aren't a far cry away. I do however see the danger. There's too many irresponsible people who in the interest in making a buck will exercise no reponsibility at all. And I can see how that can affect the hobby and wild populations. I guess I'm kind of torn. The moral implications are definitely something that needs carefully weighing on a personal level for sure. One I haven't really decided where I stand.

In case if ur looking koltsixx koltsixx , theres a rtcxtsn available. If the others are harder to find.

Thanks a lot kno4te kno4te I appreciate it. Unfortunately as I said in my response to Viktor, The TSN/Redtail IME grows far too fast for me to even consider keepng again.

If I remember correctly his vendor area was called usa stingrays
this may be his page, seems familar.

C Chicxulub can we get a check on Tom Maguires old vendor section name? I'm pretty sure that is within your power oh great and almighty hand of the king.
