Best monster fish for a beginner

So guys I was wondering what would be the best monster fish for people who are starting out in monster fish keeping hobby for example some one whos just starting out doesn't make the mistake of getting a red tail catfish without the proper information present of experienced fish keepers.So any suggestions to any fish????

The best place to start is by letting us know what size tank you will be keeping said monster in.

No this is in general for everyone but okay so for me its a 30 gallon quarantine/grow out aquarium and im building 6 foot long, 3 feet wide, and 24 inches long pond in summer.

No i know that im saying its a quarantine/grow out which they will be in there for most probably a month or 2 at the max and its also to insure that they are eating properly before adding them to such a large pond

Also what i mean by for beginner how much they will go for food, not such a monsterious size like redtails and how good their temperment will be in the home aquaria

For you, a red wolf (Erythrinus erythrinus) would be about ideal. In general, Niki_up is absolutely correct- this is a question that can not be answered without the OP disclosing what the tank is. After all, a noob with a 30 and a noob with a 300 are not the same.

I mean that is true also wolf fish are illegal down here in florida
