Some of you have seen my tank and I was wondering what other fish I could put in there. my sister would like another fish ( Cichlid) I want to do one that won’t be difficult to tell apart so I was thinking not convict but something like a fire mouth I need something that won’t outgrow the tank

I haven't seen your tank, but Convicts can be very aggressive and are prolific breeders. Firemouths do better in groups, and grow to about five inches. IMO Firemouths are a better choice in most situations.

I haven't seen your tank either. What size tank? What other fish do you have? What do you mean by easy to tell apart? Do you want a pair?

I have a 40 breeder. it is just two convicts. I mean I didn’t want to get more convicts and not be able to tell the fish apart. Looking to add 1-2 more fish

You mean you don't want more of the same species? Sorry I'm not sure I got that. But as for the stocking I personally think a pair of convicts in a 40 is good enough, in my experience they seem to be aggressive towards other species even when they're not spawning. They are beautiful fish if kept properly the males get long flowing fins and a nice hump on their head.

This is a male I had alone with no competition

I'd say enjoy them alone

How many do you have? I have two and they like to chase each other trying to find the top dog. I was wondering if I need to add more convicts to spread aggression. Also they are so young I have no clue what sex they are

I no longer have this fish, I traded it for something else a few years ago. I think I had 3 or 4 together at first but when I saw the aggression I kept one and gave the rest to someone.

you could add a school of 6 big tetras, or giant danios. congo tetras are good, BA tetra, bleeding heart tetra, or colombian tetra all do well and would do fine with the cichlids
