How Long Has Your Equipment Lasted?

Longest lasting HOB I ever had was an AC70 that went over 25 years before it finally gave up the ghost. Never had an AC70 last less than 15. Had a bunch of Aquaclears(not just AC70s) that had been in service over 15 years before I down sized the number of my tanks. My best luck overall has probably been with AquaClear and Fluval.

I've had a couple of AC filters that lasted past 20 yrs until motor burned out. Aquaclear is now owned by Fluval.

I've gone through 3-4 fluval 404s over the years. Get maybe 5 years out of them.

Noticed that. Hoping Fluval's quality goes up. Had pretty good luck with them, but had better with AC.

Eheim 2213 bought used in early 90s and still running strong. Have not replaced the impeller yet. I have. A Ebo Jager , 2217 and 2260 all are 15 plus and running strong. German made.

So it seems the bags that come with AC110'S to hold the ceramic rings will last about 3 years till they fall apart. In both my 110's this week the original bags disintegrated as I was trying to clean the filters.

Heaters are the ones I go through the most, Maybe get a year out of them. I think it might be due to buying rubbish ones though. Typically heater dies, rush to the LFS to get a new one.

"Let's see, do I want an Aquaone or Xerbitzolofishy Co LTD one?"
*Buy Aquaone again*
"Ok, well, I've got time to order a good one now."

Repeat in a year or so, because I never got around to ordering a good heater.

My Fluval canister lasts for nearly 10 years and it works fine now.
