Hello, this is the 2nd time that my red bellies have successfully spawned .. the first time around I was unable to get any of them to grow as I was unsure of what I was doing. I have moved the wigglers into a 10 Gal tank away from the adult piranhas. I am wondering when I should begin feeding them and what I should feed them, also how many times daily! I ordered ocean nurturtion instant brine shrimp offline, but am unsure if that is the best option!! Any help is greatly appreciated..image.jpgimage.jpg

congrats !

i think your on the right track with the brine shrimp -

i’ve never reared baby p’s

hopefully the others will chime in -

if there is/was an egg sack i’d say once that’s gone they will get hungry...

good luck!

I’m not sure even what the egg sack looks like, they are kind of just wiggling around on the bottom of the tank. Last time I used frozen brine shrimp but that was to big for them I believe, My instant brine shrimp is set to arrive on Friday, do you think they will be able to hold out til then or is there any thing i should substitute in for the time being while I wait for my shipment?

Welcome aboard
Congrats!!!

Yes agree with dr exum dr exum once the egg sac is absorbed the little red bellies will be hungry. The instant brine is ok
but live newly hatched brine will be better. They have a brine shrimp hatchery that you need no air pump and it works. I have 2 of them.

How can I tell if they have ate/absorbed their egg sac?

Ahhh okay I see, so no food until they are freely swimming around and up off the bottom of the tank for the most part

Yes wait until you see them darting around. What are you feeding the parents?
