i need to read up more on these ornate...
they are known for being aggressive?
i’ve heard from others that’s the case....
may have to set up a night cam.... to catch the culprit....
i wonder why the lap? there are other smaller targets....

It could be the ornate. My ornate picks on every single bichir in the tank no matter the size.
ahh, i’ll have to keep an eye out... ive witnessed it tasting the butterfly fish and id presume that’s whom sampled the jewel cichlid as well...

update -
i’ve got 3 butterfly, 2 Jewel, 1 Endli, 1 Lap in a 75 grow out / overflow -
endli is special needs... i find him/her upside down frequently ? lost one butterfly- it in fact could not fly.... think the jewels are both boys.... other lap will go to big tank soon possibly...
all well, most of them are pretty shy...
don’t see the Moke / Fat Head / Weeksi / Poli

the ornate cat i think has out grown its hole it was in now resides at the front
afer eating pellets maybe 8”-10” - sadly no spots and pretty shy....
the palmas is the eater and most round of the group....
the nile green / ornate are biggest at 10” or so...
two leaf fish fighting on/off....
there’s a yo-yo in there for clean up...
that’s about it.... i’ll move them to 150 wide or 280 if needed eventually....

That ornate catfish is taking some size lol. Looking really cool ?. Also your lap is meaty!! Keep us updated great tank

the 2nd Lap ordered by mistake seems to be different color than the other bigger lap - any ID is helpful...
i’ve got one leaf, 2 Jewel, 3 butterfly and the genetically lacking Endli - i’ll try to intermittently try to reintroduce these to main group...

this group will get a tank upgrade in 6 months or so....
then will add another Endli, Del, and amy other fresh bichir i can find....
need to learn how to sex them...

there’s two , this is the smaller one - for what ever reason this ones lighter than the other -
i’ve got one in 120g and one in 75g - separated them as they were injured and was not sure if they were hurting each other or
something else.... it’s something else - prolly afer or ornate -
going to add them back after some decor change -
