I watched a good film last night on Netflix called "Against the Ice". It's just come out this year and is based on the true story of a Danish expedition from 1909.
Apparently there was believed to be a channel in Northern Greenland called the Peery Channel, which frustratingly, though unsurprisingly, is frozen for much of the time. America claimed to own the land at one side of the channel, and Denmark the other side.
The Danes were eager to disprove the American theory and so one party set off to find it, tragically never to return.
This film tells the story of a second party, just two men, who set off to try and find evidence regarding the first parties findings.
It's well worth a watch.
