Ah yes, I remember it well. The original Hellraiser from 1987. The cenobites...pinhead, butterball and the chatterer scared the shat out of me back in the day but I watched it about 5 months ago and it just seemed so lame, lol.

But I agree, the first one was the best, the others quite poor. I hope the new one is a remake of the original, simply because with a bit of CGI those three bad guys are going to look awesome, they'll probably scare the shat out of me all over again, lol.
Butterball lol!

Do you remember the tagline to it? The words were spoken by Pinhead, played by actor Doug Bradley. At the time he looked very threatening. It went something like, "we'll tear your souls apart."

Somehow, I'm not sure if he'll pull it off this time around, lol.

I believe he had some psychological issues which he was seeing a therapist for. One particular morning he went for a session and the therapist suggested he tried acupuncture.

He said he felt great afterwards, so great in fact that he left the pins in and went back to the set! The director loved the look so much that he said, "those bad boys can stay in, it's given me the idea for a new character called, err, pinhead."

Only joking, I just made that up. But wouldn't it have been awesome if that's how pinhead was born, lol.

Whilst we're on the subject of 80's horror movies, who can ever forget this guy. Nightmare on Elm Street scared the hell out of me as a young teenager, lol.

The first 2 Nightmare On Elm Street were good and scary. The following Freddy Kruger movies not so scary but corny to me ?
Yeah, a lot of franchise type movies do that. As they run out of ideas for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc etc etc they get worse.

"Do one and leave it be", should be a motto in the movie industry. Lol.

Yeah, I rewatched them recently. Hadn't seen them since I was a teen I think. I remember them being terrifying.
I had not realized they were a comedy. Like them much more now.

Yeah, it's funny how a movie that scared the crap out of you years ago leaves you scratching your head as to what all the fuss was about when you see it many years later.

You've probably heard of Doctor Who. When I was a kid in the 70's I loved it, Jon Pertwee was the doctor back then and every episode had me glued to the tele, sometimes watching from behind the sofa, lol.

And I watch old clips on you tube now and honest to god, the acting was terrible, the monsters were horrible cheap tacky plastic things, the set was no better than painted cardboard, the whole thing was just cheap and crap....and I LOVED it, lol. You just don't notice the detail when you're a kid.

But I'll say one thing. Many of the old horror movies, when you see them now, are poor, dated, no longer scary, laughable in fact....but one still gets me to this day. It still genuinely gets me every time....and that film, quite apt for this time of year, is the original Halloween. Still freaks me out, an absolute classic.
