Yeah, I rewatched them recently. Hadn't seen them since I was a teen I think. I remember them being terrifying.
I had not realized they were a comedy. Like them much more now.
Yeah, it's funny how a movie that scared the crap out of you years ago leaves you scratching your head as to what all the fuss was about when you see it many years later.
You've probably heard of Doctor Who. When I was a kid in the 70's I loved it, Jon Pertwee was the doctor back then and every episode had me glued to the tele, sometimes watching from behind the sofa, lol.
And I watch old clips on you tube now and honest to god, the acting was terrible, the monsters were horrible cheap tacky plastic things, the set was no better than painted cardboard, the whole thing was just cheap and crap....and I LOVED it, lol. You just don't notice the detail when you're a kid.
But I'll say one thing. Many of the old horror movies, when you see them now, are poor, dated, no longer scary, laughable in fact....but one still gets me to this day. It still genuinely gets me every time....and that film, quite apt for this time of year, is the original Halloween. Still freaks me out, an absolute classic.
