Is it a rat snake specie.Hello; caught a repeat offender sneaking into my house again this year. Last fall I saw him/her out side the house and only discovered he/she had snuck in the next spring when i found him/her in my basement.
He/she was climbing my outside wall the other day. Not sure how entrance is gained but he/she seems to know a way.
Here are pictures. By the way I do not mind the intruder at all.
After thinking about it I suspect he/she gets in thru the gap at the powerhead in the soffit. You can just see it in the second picture. How it gets down into the basement garage is still a mystery. One thing is i did not catch any field mice at all last winter. They usually come in from the cow pasture next door and i usually catch several.

Hello; I think it is what we call a black snake. Common enough and non-venomous. Eats mice and such. Do not know the scientific name. What is fascinating to me is how it could climb a brick wall that way. There was a time lapse between the pictures. Last time i looked it could not be found. Hope it is in the basement again. Is it a rat snake specie.
My neighbor swears he killed a large black snake near his shed. I'm personally not afraid of snakes but my wife and daughter terrified of them.Hello; I think it is what we call a black snake. Hello; A shame to kill the nonvenomous snakes in the USA. They help control pests which do cause harm. We do not naturally have the big constrictors which can hurt small children except in Florida so far.My neighbor swears he killed a large black snake near his shed.
