Hello: I must agree with you to a degree that once a woman starts kicking or punching she has voided the age old deal. Still a man has to keep control and not beat up a smaller female too bad. The video in question about D White was a good example. The wife put a good lick on his face which left a mark. He open hand slapped her back once and stopped.
You make it sound like this was somehow a fair fight. Maybe take a closer look at Dana Whites size, and physique, and factor in his background in the fight game. I honestly can’t believe that I am even typing this, seriously. In most clubs, that moron would have had his head rammed through the doors on the way out. Oh right, he’s Dana White, with a net worth of 500 mill. I guess he gets a free pass. I hope this act of ignorance/violence against his wife costs him dearly.

It looked to me like his first slap was a reflex after he had copped a slap himself, the 2 nd attempt is a different matter.
Really a high profile person in public in the age of camera phones should know better, it’s obviously going to be all over the media seconds after the slap has landed.
Fair enough he didn’t try to make excuses but it’s going to haunt him forever and damage the UFC brand.
I remember that terrible fish keeping show Tanked finished up because one of the male hosts kept getting beaten up by his wife. A lot of people thought it was funny but imagine the outrage if it was the other way around. As far as I know he had enough self control not to retaliate.

Hello; Interesting how you miss so much even while having all the pieces at your command. Yes, he is bigger, stronger and well versed in fighting. He could have done real damage no doubt. That he did not do so is as much a part of the story as the slap itself. There was no fight. Surely in all those dojo's and streets you haunted you saw some actual fights. Not any slapping in what I know of to be fights.

Truth be told I did not know who he is before this incident. Still do not care about him. Still do not care that you disagree with my take on the incident.

So...a drunken professional scrapper who takes a slap across the face from his equally drunken wife...a woman perhaps half his size to whom he has been married for decades...and with whom he has young children...is to be commended for not unleashing his full fury upon her? Yes, he is indeed a prince, to be satisfied with merely slapping her in response...

...oh, but...he wasn't satisfied with that single retaliatory smack. He took a second swipe but didn't fully connect...and then seemed to be going in for more but was restrained by others nearby who must not have realized what iron self-control he was exhibiting.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.

No one is commending the guy, or calling him a prince. I can't speak for SK but my opinion is I disagree with someone getting on their high horse, trying to billy jack themselves into a situation and only holding men accountable for their actions. Then go on and try to minimize her strike because her hand was open? If he backhanded her, would that be any less of a DB move? No. He did not beat the crap out her, he made the same drunken effort she did. His size and background are also the reasons why she should think twice about hitting him. What if he did go off on her and seriously hurt, killed her. Would you still feel better he knowing he "shouldn't" have done that? No. It would still be a tragedy. But at the end of the day she is the one who took the liberty to strike someone. It's like these dumb kids I see crossing the street. They walk right into the intersection, don't even bother to look to make sure traffic stops. They are perfectly content with knowing traffic is "supposed" to stop. Guess what? Stuff happens. I'm surely not condoning running anyone over, or beating women. But take some accountability.
The real crappy part of this situation is that drunken fist fights look to be acceptable here. Not because it's a man hitting a woman, but because they BOTH can't be civil. How trashy.

Exactly. Makes one wonder how this might have played out had it occurred in the comfort of their own home, sans any cell phone cameras, or witnesses to restrain (or report) him.

I guess you missed my previous link regarding Dana White's slap fighting league, being delayed by TBS.

Power Slap - the world’s premier slap fighting promotion

Go watch some old Bas Rutten Pancrase fights on youtube, where closed fists were not allowed - only open hand strikes. He crushed his opponents, with an open hand. Numerous knock outs with this technique. When you strike someone with the hard bones of the wrist or the carpus, the result can be just as effective, as a punch with a fist. Hello concussion city. To the average observer, Bas's strikes were so fast, it looked like a slap.

Even an open hand strike can result in serious harm to the person being hit. A powerful enough slap, especially from a much stronger, more skillful opponent, can easily result in a knock out. And these are some big dudes, that are ready and bracing for the hit. The vegus nerve can be triggered, even by an open handed slap, if enough force/power is exerted.

In fact, there are cases where a slap to the face, resulted in death. Here's one that took place in Canada.
Quebec man who slapped his daughter so hard she died gets 60-day sentence | CTV News

another slap, that resulted in death.

Unfortunately, there's plenty more where that came from.

Hello; One truth in all this from the two of you. That being i have not opened the links posted. I also have not tried to commend the guy (white) nor justify him. The video i saw on TV showed her slapping him once and him slapping her once. Then he is seen taking full blame and not trying to weasel out of his action. I have seen up close and personal when a big fit man at 225 pounds (my father) goes at a smaller woman (my mother) and i get my 145-pound fit teenage body in between. It is not some simple exchange of two slaps. I do not know nor care about White. I did as i got older come to understand how serving in the Pacific theater during WWII in three major island landings screwed up my father. I did make allowances for my father eventually, but it was hard to do for a time.

But you two keep on making a mountain out of the White incident and my take on it. Don't think any on this site will be surprised that you guys oppose something i say.

Well, hello; that is the person (and actions) being discussed. lol
Hello; Interesting that you do not see how the discussion evolved beyond White. Interesting but not enough to keep beating this dead horse.

Edit - I also understand the praise "beating a dead horse" is not supposed to be used any more.
