That rose pic is beautiful, but sad...is a bloom in Feb a rare thing in your locale? Will the snow kill off a lot of plants?
We had a week of temps just barely below freezing...and are now in the midst of a week of -20C to -25C for daytime highs...but are scheduled to have another warm spell, with one day next week tentatively forecast to actually get barely above freezing. For us, having any snow melt between mid-Nov and mid-Mar is a rare and wonderful treat.
Went ice fishing about 1.5 hours north of home a few days ago; drilled through 50 inches of ice...and caught nothing!
Also, inspired by
duanes
and his Panama expedition, I have recently picked up a cast net and have been practicing in the yard with it; got a ways to go before I am proficient. I had to venture into virgin untouched snow outside of Duke's radio collar range or else he would have "helped" me.
After watching several how-to videos on throwing technique...mostly demonstrated by nubile blondes in microscopic bikinis...I felt a bit silly out there in a giant down parka and boots, snow way over my knees, throwing a tangled mass of cold-stiffened monofilament net. Sadly, at 20 below zero...my wife refused to come out to take a pic.
Hearing and seeing a lot about harsh winter storm conditions in many places; although cold, it's actually quite lovely here, with no new snow recently or in the forecast. Hope everyone is safe out there.
