Swinging around to other tanks. Here's Mica, daughter of Slade/Speck. She's one of the younger siblings and this is her first batch of fry. She's housed with blood parrot Tango. He's walled off her side with plants but her crew seems to like it. She has a small log at the bottom. At night she hustles the fry to the back wall into the plants and they seem to disappear. She has roughly 25 or so fry. It's pretty funny seeing her face off against the large parrot!

Finishing up with the 225 . I've been taking more pics in evening mode because buildup on the tank walls is a pain to clean for pictures. It's either algae or calcium. Evening mode helps eliminate all the crazy reflections too.

So here's Salt. He's a red rainbow but this is his blackout mode!

I mentioned a while back that the glass tops on the 225 needed new hinges because the originals have sheared off from the weight of the glass panes. Also the glass replacement piece arrived! I scrubbed all the tops and removed the 2 remaining gunky handles. A bit of history: the center glass piece on one of the lids (22" x 14") fell and landed on my Oscar, breaking in half. He was fine, I was a wreck and the glass was busted. So I jerry rigged the top using sections of glass strips to partially cover the open areas temporarily until the glass arrived.

These are the clear replacement handles I got on amazon. Sturdy and I love the look. I'm a true believer in nano tape technology! Just stick and go. I removed the old handles easily using a clay cutting tool. Right now the glass panels are just butted up against each other.

These are the new hinges. Haven't installed them yet. I believe these will be a lot stronger than the pvc hinge strips. Plus replacement hinge strips are almost impossible to get on glass unless you literally boil them. I've had no luck getting them on glass at all. So I looked into this alternate solution and got three hinges.

These hinges are the largest size (12") I may add another 2" hinge on the sides of each one for extra stability. Red tape is the adhesive side.

From the beginning I've gone back and forth on Harlequin (quad color hrp) being male or female. At first I thought female because of the nesting. But when no babies ever appeared I assumed male. Well now I have proof...it's a SHE. The precocious and wild one is now a mother. There's a few tiny fry by a log, and I can't tell how many yet. She and sister Mica are the two 'fastest' ones to have fry. Harlequin now feels the need to chase fish across the entire tank to keep them from her log. Just as wild and nutty as her mother Speck.

Dusty, one of the G2 hrp males out of Mongo/Pip used to have the color of a blue botia with red fins. That's no longer the case. He has stripes now but his whole body is rust red tinted along with his fins. He's not as aggressive as he once was so its hard to get pics. Tends to stay in his area now.

I won't get to hooking up the new tank just yet. Considering putting it on an existing metal stand and moving a smaller tank to the bottom rung.

Love the new acrylic hinges are on the 225. They're great, very strong and a much better long term solution than the strips. Will post a pic.
